‘Microplastic Nexus’ sheds light on the unseen world of microplastics, depicted through body painting on Dr. Imogen Napper, based on her own microscopic imagery. This piece highlights the microplastics shed from synthetic clothes, pervading not only our water streams, but the air we breath too. A stark reminder of the novel entities planetary boundary, this artwork brings the microscopic to life, igniting awareness of human-induced environmental shifts.
The image is printed on Hahnemühle Hemp Eco Fine Art paper, made with 60% hemp fibres and 40% cotton linters – a leftover from the oil and textile industry, which gives it a natural look and feel, and reduces the environmental impact of the paper. The paper is also acid-free, ligning-free and OBA-free, making it perfect for long-term display.
