‘Where are all the fish?’ No 1

£15.00£150.00 incl. VAT

This fine art print features a man painted with simple, abstract representations of fish, against a deep blue background, making it a subtle yet impactful commentary on the issue of ocean acidification. The minimalistic depiction of fish serves to emphasise their absence from our increasingly acidic oceans, an environment under threat largely due to human activities like burning fossil fuels.

The straightforward style of the painted fish contrasts with the complexity of the issue at hand, providing an entry point for viewers to engage with the subject matter. The image doesn’t just capture attention; it invites deeper thought about the real-world implications of ocean acidification, particularly its devastating impact on marine life.

In its simplicity, “Where are all the Fish?” offers a compelling narrative on a pressing environmental issue, making it not just a piece of art, but also a call to action.

Description

The image is printed on Hahnemühle Hemp Eco Fine Art paper, made with 60% hemp fibres and 40% cotton linters – a leftover from the oil and textile industry, which gives it a natural look and feel, and reduces the environmental impact of the paper. The paper is also acid-free, ligning-free and OBA-free, making it perfect for long-term display. The print studio we use is carbon-neutral. Prints are produced on demand to reduce waste, and we use drop shipping to reduce the distance the print travels to reach you.

The shoot itself was done using only daylight, and all participants travelled to the studio using public transport. This ‘painting’ was one of three completed on the same day.

One way you can help is by purchasing one of the stunning prints from The I AM IMPACT Project. 10% of the sale of each print will go to the HIP Gallery until 31 December 2023 to support them in continuing their work in the Humber region, thereafter 100% of profits are donated to on-the-ground grassroots organisations on solutions for the impacts of climate change on carbon sinks.

So not only will you be getting a beautiful piece of art for your home or office, but you’ll also be helping to make a difference in the lives of others.
